Stand up paddle board or SUP, is one of our most appreciated and popular experiences. SUP is a fantastic water sport that suits everyone. At our place, families with children enjoy SUP during vacations, school students on kick-offs, colleagues on conferences, and retirees with their grandchildren. Everyone can paddle SUP!
Stand up paddle boarding is a water sport where you stand upright on a board and propel yourself forward using a single-sided paddle. There are both rigid and inflatable SUP boards, and the boards are typically slightly larger than a surfboard. You stand in the middle of the board and use the paddle to steer and control your speed. It is a versatile sport that can be performed on both flat and wavy water.
What most people appreciate about paddling our SUP adventures, aside from it being a fun challenge and experience, is the opportunity to get close to our beautiful nature. There are few things that compare to gliding on a SUP board along a calm river, surrounded by reeds and greenery on a beautiful summer day. At some of our branches, you can paddle on lakes and rivers, but it’s also perfect to paddle SUP on a calm evening at the sea while the sun sets. So, paddling in the ocean works just as well. The waves provide a bit more challenge, but after a while, most people start to feel comfortable.
You don’t need any prior experience to paddle SUP, our instructors are always available to show you the technique so you can get out on the board. Our boards from Kona are stable and suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. They also work great for SUP yoga. The first paddle strokes may feel unstable for most people, and standing on a SUP board will definitely challenge your balance. But that’s part of the charm, and after a while, you’ll discover that you’re mastering the SUP board more and more. That’s what makes SUP such an incredibly fun and rewarding water sport – you quickly go from being a slightly wobbly beginner to feeling confident.
Our SUP adventures are available in several cities in Sweden, each with its unique terrain that offers different levels of challenge. We offer SUP adventures and board rentals as long as the weather permits. With that said, SUP is primarily a summer activity, but it’s not to be underestimated to take the SUP board out for a spring or autumn trip. Many of our customers paddle SUP from early spring to late autumn, and with a good wetsuit, you can extend the season significantly.
Whether you want to try one of our SUP adventures or take your own trip on the board, we at Kitekalle have everything you need for a delightful experience. If you want to combine the SUP adventure with something else, we have several fantastic experiences, including fat biking, kitesurfing, and wave surfing.
We rent out SUP boards by the hour at several of our branches in Sweden. Click on the city closest to you to find your nearest rental location. If you need assistance right away, you can email info@kitekalle.se.
Wetsuits are available for rent if desired. We typically recommend wearing swimwear and weather-appropriate, comfortable clothing. It’s also good to bring a towel and a change of clothes in case you get wet. Life jackets are available to borrow.
We recommend leaving items that should not get wet at home/in the car. You can also use a waterproof bag for items you want to bring on the board. You are responsible for your own valuables that you bring with you on the board.
When you book a SUP adventure, the board and paddle are included. If you wish to rent a wetsuit and water shoes, they are available.
You don’t need any prior experience to join SUP adventures. It may feel a bit wobbly at first when getting up on the board, but you will quickly get the hang of paddling. Plus, you have full control over the pace and tempo.
